Transforming Touch®

Co-regulating or trauma-informed touch from the perspective of a trauma-aware therapist is a deeply relational, nervous-system-centered way of being with someone—not something done to them.

Our bodies carry emotional and relational memories long before they ever enter language. In early development, human beings learn how to soothe themselves because another person—often a caregiver—was there to help calm them when they were overwhelmed. That mutual regulation of nervous systems is what we call co-regulation: an interactive dance where two people’s internal states influence and support each other toward calm and balance.

Trauma-informed touch recognizes when someone has experienced adversity—especially relational or developmental trauma—touch can feel complicated or even unsafe. So this approach prioritizes safety, consent, choice, and attunement at every moment. Touch isn’t applied based on a predetermined agenda; it’s offered in a way that honors the person’s boundaries, comfort, and pacing. In a session, that might look like you resting fully clothed while I use intentional, gentle, non-invasive contact—very subtle and slow—to support your nervous system’s ability to soften and unwind. The goal isn’t manipulation of muscles or “fixing” symptoms, but creating a safe somatic experience where your nervous system can sense that calm is possible. Over time, this repeated experience of co-regulation can help expand your internal sense of safety and resilience. Like other trauma-informed modalities, it’s not a quick patch or a cure-all. Instead, it’s a compassionate, embodied way of helping nervous systems learn something new: that you can be present in your body and still feel safe, supported, and grounded. This can be especially meaningful for people whose early experiences didn’t consistently provide that kind of regulated, attuned presence.

Reiki

Reiki is as a very gentle, supportive practice that helps the body and mind remember how to settle and re-balance themselves.

Reiki creates the conditions for your nervous system to soften. During a session, I’m simply offering calm, attentive presence and light touch (or sometimes no touch at all), which many people experience as deeply grounding. Clients often notice a sense of warmth, ease, or quiet that allows tension to release without effort.

Reiki as especially helpful for people who are overwhelmed, burned out, or feeling disconnected from themselves. It works on a level that doesn’t require talking or analyzing, which can be a relief when words feel hard to find. Over time, clients often report better sleep, a greater sense of emotional steadiness, and a feeling of being more at home in their own body.

Reiki is a compassionate complement—one that supports self-awareness, resilience, and healing by honoring the body’s natural wisdom and capacity for balance.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is a way of working directly with the nervous system through vibration and tone. Sound has a unique ability to bypass the thinking mind and speak to the body in a very immediate, sensory way that positively impacts emotions.

I use Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, and chakra-aligned frequency music to create an environment that feels safe, rhythmic, and deeply regulating. As the sounds move through the room, clients often notice their breathing slow, their muscles soften, and their awareness gently turn inward. Some people feel the vibrations physically, while others experience emotional release or a quiet, meditative state.

Sound healing is particularly supportive for clients who feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected from their bodies. The layered tones can help interrupt stress patterns and invite a sense of flow and coherence. Because the experience doesn’t require verbal processing, it can be especially helpful for those who feel fatigued by talking or who are working through things that feel hard to name.

I see sound healing not as something that fixes or forces change, but as a collaborative experience—one where the body is given consistent, harmonious input and allowed to respond in its own time. Over sessions, many clients describe feeling more grounded, emotionally spacious, and better able to tune into their own internal rhythms.
